Zilla Parishad 20% Self-funding

At least 20 percent of the total income of the Zilla Parishad is reserved for Scheduled Castes, Neo-Buddhists, De-exiled Castes and Nomadic Tribes and this amount is spent on welfare schemes for the individual and collective benefits of the backward classes. In the financial year 2023-24, an amount of Rs. 4,08,67,300/- has been provided. Out of this, individual and collective schemes have been taken. The process of implementing this scheme is underway.

Kolhapur district is leading in the government scholarship examination of Pre-Higher Secondary (E.5th) and Pre-Secondary (E.8th) conducted in the year 2023-2024. In this scholarship examination, 44 students of E.5th and 39 students of E.8th from Kolhapur district have appeared in the state merit list.

In the year 2023-24, through the Education Department Primary, District Planning Committee, Collectorate Office, Kolhapur, etc., students of 6th to 8th standard have been provided with updated training in robotics. 18767 students from 351 schools of Zilla Parishad in Kolhapur district have been provided with this training.

In the year 2023-24, a study tour was organized for 45 students at ISRO under the National Mission under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

An amount of Rs. 1 crore 15 lakh 96 thousand has been given to 3218 disabled students in the district through DBT as helpers, travel, readers and incentive allowances in their bank accounts.

Under the National Child Health Program, 100 percent health check-up of 6 lakh 21 thousand 373 children aged 0 to 18 years was done. In the year 2023-24, a total of 161 children who were found to have heart defects during the health check-up were successfully operated on free of cost. In this, 126 children aged 0 to 2 years (newborns) underwent surgery. The surgery was performed at Kokilaben Hospital, Fortis Hospital, SRCC Hospital Mumbai. Free bus facilities were provided from Zilla Parishad Kolhapur for the children and their parents for this surgery. In the year 2023-24, the parents were able to save an amount of Rs. 3 crore for heart surgery.

Under the National Child Health Program, 12 children aged 0 to 2 years underwent cochlear implant (inner ear) surgery. Due to this, these children have been able to hear and speak. Due to this surgery, the parents were able to save an amount of Rs. 1 crore 20 lakh.

Under the National Child Health Program, other surgeries were successfully performed on 3412 children aged 0 to 18 years. Due to this surgery, the parents were able to save an amount of Rs. 2 crore 50 lakh.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, a benefit of Rs. 3 crore 92 lakh has been paid to the bank accounts of 9584 beneficiaries.

As per the Government Decision dated 11 September 2019, it is permissible to fill 20% of the total vacancies in compassionate appointments every year. As per the Government Decision dated 22 December 2021, the limit for 20% recruitment of compassionate appointments has been extended till 31/12/2024. During the period from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022, action was to be taken to fill 74 posts in accordance with only 20% of the 372 posts that fell vacant. Out of these, 53 candidates were admitted on 08/03/2023 and 19 candidates on 08/03/2023. A total of 72 candidates have been appointed to Group C and D posts after face-to-face counselling on 22/08/2023.

The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra has launched the ‘Lek Ladki’ scheme for girls born on or after 1st April 2023. Under this scheme, Rs. 5000/- is available upon the birth of a girl, Rs. 6000/- when the girl enters class 1, Rs. 7000/- when the girl enters class 6, Rs. 8000/- when the girl enters class 11 and Rs. 75,000/- when the girl completes eighteen years, a total benefit of Rs. 1,01,000/- is admissible. In the year 2023-24, a grant of Rs. 70,00,000/- has been distributed to 1400 girls at the rate of Rs. 5000/- per beneficiary through DBT.

The fourth floor of the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad Building has been constructed under the scheme of Zilla Parishad Building and the inauguration ceremony was held on 26.01.2024 under the auspicious hands of Hon’ble Guardian Minister, Kolhapur District. An amount of Rs. 710.75 lakhs has been spent on the said work. In this, the construction of the fourth floor, the second lift and the furniture work have been completed, and space has been provided on the said floor to the offices of the Education Department, Primary, Rural Water Supply Department and District Water and Sanitation Mission as per their requirements. Also, a spacious auditorium has been constructed on the fourth floor.

A state-of-the-art gymnasium is open in the Zilla Parishad premises for the better health of the office bearers, officers and employees and continuity has been maintained in this.

A sports competition was organized for the officers and employees under Zilla Parishad Kolhapur on 04, 05 and 06 February 2024.
