The Animal Husbandry Department of Zilla Parishad, Kolhapur is dedicated to promoting and supporting sustainable livestock development in the district. Established in 1882, the department works towards improving animal breeds, ensuring balanced nutrition, controlling diseases, promoting better farm management, and facilitating artificial insemination – all guided by the principles of Panchasutri. We also embrace the One Health approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental well-being. Our mission is to empower farmers with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive, contributing to the economic prosperity of the region. We strive to achieve this through various schemes, training programs, and veterinary services, accessible to all.
